ALBANY -- One of contemporary Christian music's top recording acts, Grammy-nominated NewSong, will bring its "Very Merry Christmas Tour" to Life Christian Center International here on Dec. 17.

Now in their 30th year, NewSong have made Life Christian Center an annual stop on their tour, which since its inception in 1995 has become the No. 1 attended Christian music tour in America.

Joining NewSong for their fifth stop in Albany will be Kutlass, GMA Male Vocalist of the Year Chris August and breakout singer/songwriter Jamie Grace.

"The concert is a time of good family fun and a great way to celebrate the Christmas season," Life Christian Center pastor Stan Glass said. "But it's a great ministry opportunity as well. This show allows us to reach out to a segment of the population we don't usually reach."

NewSong have scored 20 No. 1 hits on Christian radio in the band's 30 years together, including the inspirational "The Christmas Shoes, which became a No. 1 mainstream radio hit and spawned a series of best-selling novels by Donna VanLiere. Two television movies based on VanLiere's books and featuring NewSong music are also part of "The Christmas Shoes" legacy. One of those movies (CBS's "The Christmas Blessing") was television's most-watched movie in 2005.

The Very Merry Christmas performance at Life Christian Center will feature popular selections from NewSong's 17 albums, including the band's latest, "One True God," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Christian album chart.

"We started (hosting a NewSong tour stop) four or five years ago, and it's become part of people's Christmas," Glass said. "We try to limit seating to 1,100, and we usually are close to capacity. We sold out two years ago and were only a few tickets short of a sellout last year.

"You can believe when they do 'The Christmas Shoes,' there won't be a dry eye in the house. And this year the Westover High School drumline is going to play during the singing of 'The Little Drummer Boy.' That's also a very moving part of the show."

Portland, Ore.-based Kutless have emerged as one of the nation's premiere Christian rock bands, and their latest album, "Strong Tower," was certified Gold by the RIAA. The band's chart-topping single "What Faith Can Do" was named the Mediabase Christian AC Song of the Year in 2010 and was Billboard's No. 2 hot Christian song of the year.

August scored an impressive sweep at the 42nd Dove Awards last year, winning New Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year (for "No Far Away"). That album was the best-selling new artist project of 2010.

Lithonia's Grace, a 19-year-old college student, just released her debut album, "One Song at a Time," but she's already become a mainstay on Christian radio. Diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome at age 11, she travels the country sharing her story and faith through music and testimony.
