ALBANY — Ricardo D. Canidate, 17, has been arrested in the stabbing of a 21-year-old Albany man before midnight Thursday while they were in the parking lot of the Nottingham North Apartments, stated an Albany Police Department report.
Aubrey Daniel, who was stabbed in the neck, said that he was approached by a man while he was standing in the parking lot at 2401 Nottingham Way, the report added.
“The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the neck,” said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. “The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.”
Daniel was released Wednesday from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
At a first appearance Wednesday before a judge, Canidate was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a certain crime, a jail spokeswoman said. Canidate remained in jail Wednesday night with no bail set for him, she added.
The stabbing was the second in as many days in the same area of the city. Banks said, however, that the stabbing Monday of 51-year-old Lance Larson in the arm, back and neck about a half-mile away from Nottingham North Apartments was unrelated to the stabbing of Daniel.
The owners of the Harvest Moon restaurant have offered a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the man who attacked Larson, a popular member of the Bo Henry Band.
