ALBANY, Ga. -- A call for a lift resulted in an armed robbery Wednesday night, Albany Police Department reports show.
Jeffrey Young reported the robbery at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday on the 100 block of South Jefferson Street.
According to the police report: "The suspect came to the victim's home to give him a ride. When the suspect arrived, the victim got into his vehicle and at that point the suspect pointed a small handgun gun at him and demanded money. The suspect then left the scene."
Police are searching for a 6-foot-tall, black man weighing 185 pounds in connection with the robbery. They have not released the suspect's name. Albany police responded to at least 26 incidents Wednesday, according to available police reports. Police responded to incidents including:
-- Burglary on the 2600 block of Erica Court;
-- Theft by taking on the 2800 block of Ledo Road and the 2500 block of Dawson Road;
-- Entering auto on the 2700 block of Pointe North Boulevard;
-- Missing juvenile on the 200 block of North Broadway Court;
-- Criminal damage to property (domestic) on the 2700 block of Dawson Road;
-- Assault (domestic) on the 500 Block of Pine Avenue;
-- Simple battery (domestic) on the 2300 block of Garden Avenue;
-- Domestic (unfounded) on the 500 block of West Whitney Avenue and the 500 block of Aztec Avenue.
ALBANY FIRE: Albany firefighters responded to 17 calls, including four EMS assists, a 10-acre field fire that spread from a trash fire, four grass fires, three activated alarms, a broken air conditioner and a downed power line.
