ALBANY, Ga. — An investigation into a Wednesday robbery and shooting has ruled out one man, but police still want talk to Wesley L. Anderson, 41, another "person of interest."
"Damien King turned himself in at the Law Enforcement Center at approximately noon (Friday)," said Phyllis Banks, Albany Police Department spokeswoman. "King has been ruled out as a person of interest in the Long John Silver aggravated assault and armed robbery."
Giorgi Kartvilish was released by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Friday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Banks reported that Kartvilish was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm.
A gunman shot Kartvilish, 32, during a robbery in the restaurant's back parking lot when Kartvilish and his friend Irakli Bokuchava resisted two robbers. Bokuchava suffered a minor injury to his foot during the altercation.
The robbers drove away in an older model, dark-blue Chevrolet S-10 pickup. They dumped the pickup on the 100 block of Eugene Lane, a dirt alley about a mile away from the restaurant at 1716 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.
Anyone with additional information or the whereabouts of Anderson should call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or investigations at (229) 431-3288. The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.
