Albany High reunion drawing big crowd

ALBANY, Ga. — About 225 people have already signed up to attend an Albany High School Classes of 1964-65 joint class reunion Saturday at Merry Acres Hotel and Event Center.

David Campbell, a graduate of the class of 1964, said the two classes combined had more than 1,100 graduates, the largest total ever to graduate from an Albany high school.

“All we had back then was Albany High and Monroe High,” Campbell said.

Campbell said Friday’s event will feature a pool social at Merry Acres.

Activities Saturday include a band performing 1960s music and an “old-fashioned barbecue where we do the whole pig,” he said.

Campbell said graduates of Albany High from those two years who have not signed up yet can still reserve a spot by emailing Glenda Shelby Cannon at, Joyce Gerst Campbell at or Seaborn Curry at
