ALBANY, Ga. — The first Humanities at Darton Day for high school students will be held Oct. 15 on the campus of Darton College.
Faculty in the Humanities Division of Darton College will provide workshops in writing, public speaking, and Spanish. In addition, high school students who attend the event will have an opportunity to compete for scholarships in English, journalism, broadcast journalism, public speaking, and foreign languages.
“If you have students who are interested in or excel in writing, literature, English, public speaking, communications, performance, video production, broadcast journalism, mass media, news writing, Spanish, or Japanese, this event is for them,” said Elizabeth Perkins, interim dean of the Humanities Division.
“Our Humanities at Darton Day will also give students and parents the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors, financial aid counselors, and other college representatives to ask questions and get helpful information about the college admissions process,” she added. “We will also offer workshops on writing scholarship essays and college application essays as well as a workshop on how to ace a college interview. So, the day is not just for students, but is also for parents and school representatives.”
The deadline for submitting all forms is Oct. 7 at 5 p.m.
Anyone with questions may call Perkins or Gail Apperson at (229) 317-6554 or via email at gail.apperson@darton.edu.
