Camilla names new city manager

CAMILLA — Current Mitchell County Administrator Bennett Adams will take over as Camilla city manager “within the next 30 days or so,” interim manager Tom Berry said Tuesday.

According to Berry, the Camilla City Council voted 6-4 on Monday to approve Adams’ application. Adams had submitted his resume for the position after former City Manager Mike Larkin resigned at the end of April.

Berry said he knew that Adams probably has some “loose ends” to tie up, but he believes Adams will assume all responsibilities of the job “within about 30 days.”

“He’s going to fit right in,” Berry said. “This is one of the best matches I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a few of them.”

Adams said he was happy to have been the successful candidate and is looking forward to working with a “full-service city,” such as Camilla.
