LEESBURG — Auditions for the new musical “Monkey Business,” written by local author and educator Ronnie McGhee, will be held Saturday and Sunday at Lee County High School’s Robert Clay Auditorium.
The cast calls for children, teens and adults, and anyone from the area may audition. “Monkey Business” has three lead roles for boys ages 10-13, one lead role for a young girl and numerous lead roles for adults. Several chorus roles are available for all ages.
No prepared material is required at auditions, which will start at 2 p.m. both days. Those auditioning will be asked to sing and dance, and performers called back will be asked to read and improvise scenes from the show.
The score for the Depression-era musical was composed by LCHS musical director Kevin Blaise, while McGhee wrote the lyrics. The premiere production of “Monkey Business” will be directed by Robby Davis with choreography by Dotty Davis. The Davises are theater directors at the school.
Show dates for the musical are Dec. 15-18.
