Drug unit agents make marijuana arrest

ALBANY — Following an older-model, blue Cadillac paid off for local drug agents Wednesday. Not so for the passenger in the car.

Waheed, aka Wahood, Johnson, 29, the passenger, was caught with 7.5 ounces of marijuana Wednesday morning, said Maj. Bill Berry of the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit. Johnson is being held in the Dougherty County Jail.

Johnson is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and obstruction of an officer, a jail spokeswoman said, adding his first appearance before a judge is today. Drug agents are searching for the driver of the car, who ran away, leaving the Cadillac in an alley between Cotton and Corn avenues.

As is typical when there is a police operation near a school, the Gifted Education L.I.F.E. Lab at 911 S. McKinley St. was locked down for the protection of students and staff.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or investigations at (229) 431-3288. The Spanish-speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.

I believe if folks want to run, more trained attack dogs should be placed in the field. They won't outrun the dogs. They run now because they thing they stand a chance. With a dog, they won't. and it should discourage running in the future.

I love the K-9 idea Waltspecht. If someone runs from the police in Thomasville they don't mess around they call the K-9 unit to hunt the person(s) down. I often wonder why they don't do it here that much except when there is a bank robbery like the other day.

The reason people run from the albany police is because APD officers are overweight and out of shape. No chance in hell they will catch anybody on feet. I thought there was a training process you had to complete to become an police officer. Running must not be at the top of the training list.

His name should be Waweed or Wahood-lum.
