ALBANY -- The Flint River Cleanup conducted by Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Walkers who volunteer to clean up the Flint River will gather on the west side of the River at Third Avenue. Those in canoes and kayaks will gather at the Radium Boat Landing, also at 9 a.m.
"Water is our planet's most precious resource," said Judy Bowles, executive director of KADB. "It is incumbent upon each of us to do our part to protect the water from pollution for our citizens as well as for our abdundant wildlife."
Rivers Alive encourages cleanups along all 70,150 miles of Georgia's rivers, lakes, streams and wetlands.
