ALBANY A political newcomer challenging the incumbent in the Ward VI race for city commission got an endorsement from an unusual source Monday, as U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, an Albany native, threw his support behind Kowana McKinney.
McKinney, along with former county commissioner Victor Edwards, is challenging incumbent commissioner Tommie Postell for his seat at the Albany Commission table.
Late Monday, a video surfaced on YouTube, showing Rush, the congressman for Illinois' First District, in which he reportedly is backing McKinney for the office.
"She's running for the right reasons, more than a career move" Rush said. "She's running because she's familiar with the pain and suffering that the people, who are living under decrepit conditions even in this nation, even in the 21st century."
