ALBANY — Among the Albany weekend burglaries under investigation include those that took place at a child care center and at a coin laundry in East Albany.
The child care center victimized was the Tift Head Start Center, located on the 600 block of West Tift Avenue, at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said that someone had thrown a brick and broken the back window of the school. Nothing was taken, and no arrests have been made in the case, she said.
Police are also investigating a break-in at Emily’s Coin Laundry on Radium Springs Road, which took place sometime between 10:35 p.m. on Sunday and 12:35 a.m. on Monday.
In that incident, someone broke into the establishment through the side window and took four bags containing coins and currency.
“Upon their (the officers’) arrival, they found the drive thru window had been broken,” stated an email from Banks. “After the building was cleared, the owner told them that some unknown person(s) had entered the building and took the (four bags of currency).”
Both cases remain under investigation.
