ALBANY Local music fans who’ve kicked off their Thanksgiving celebration the last several years by joining local country music stars Luke Bryan and Dallas Davidson and all their rowdy friends at the State Theatre for the annual Turkey Jam will have new dishes to enjoy this Nov. 23.
With Bryan and Davidson bowing out of their traditional performance to spend time with their families, two local musical favorites — the Kinchafoonee Cowboys and the Bo Henry Band — have stepped in to ably fill the pair’s shoes and to celebrate monumental milestones.
The Cowboys will use the Turkey Jam celebration to mark their 20th anniversary, while the Bo Henry Band will celebrate their 15th anniversary. And, as a bonus, Bo and the boys will use the Jam as a release party for their second album.
“Everyone’s kind of grown accustomed to seeing Luke and Dallas play here on Thanksgiving, but their schedules have just been too much this year,” Henry said. “They plan to have a show here later in the year, but they wanted to take some time off during the holidays to be with their families.
“We’re thrilled to join the Kinchafoonee Cowboys in celebrating their 20th anniversary and our 15th and in keeping the musical Thanksgiving tradition alive. We’re also excited that we’ll be finished with our new album in time for that show.”
The all-night pre-Thanksgiving jam will also include rising country artists Cole Taylor and Cody Smith.
Tickets for the event, which will go on sale this week, are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. Day-of-show tickets are also available for $15 with the donation of a child’s Christmas toy.
