Moultrie MOULTRIE, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent says a standoff at a home in Moultrie ended with the resident dead and a police officer injured.
The Moultrie Observer reports Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Thomasville office, says someone threw a brick through a store window in Moultrie Monday and an officer went to the home of a man officers believed was responsible.
Turner says a confrontation ensued and the officer called the SWAT team.
Officers say attempts to communicate with the man failed, and they attempted to subdue him with a Taser and rushed inside.
Turner says the man came at officers with a knife and was shot. He says one of the officers suffered a head wound that was not considered serious.
