HeritageBank of the South opens branch in Lee County

LEESBURG -- HeritageBank of the South celebrated the opening of its first full-service banking facility in Lee County Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony jointly hosted by the Albany and Lee County Chambers of Commerce.

Customer traffic at the 8,000 square foot facility at 104 Heritage Lane off U.S. Highway 19 North has been "very good," for the three weeks it's been open, according to Jimmy Wilson, Lee County market president of HeritageBank of the South.

Wilson said that a few years ago a more limited bank was opened in Lee County. Ground for the new building was broken in August, 2010 and was constructed by LRA Contractors. The building, designed by architect, David Maschke, is surrounded by approximately five acres of land, which is owned by HeritageBank of the South.

Wilson said the bank may later expand on that additional land or it may me sold.

Wilson, who grew up in Leesburg, has been with HeritageBank for two years will now be heading up the Lee County branch of HeritageBank of the South.

"I grew up in Leesburg," Wilson said. "It's just like coming home for me. We have a great staff, headed up by Sean Hunter. She's been with us for about 20 years."
