Sherwood's Brock pitches first pefect game of career in rout of Deerfield

ALBANY -- Here's what you need to know about how important it is for Sherwood's softball team to have Anna Laine Brock in the lineup: The Lady Eagles are 0-3 without her -- and 2-0 with her.

Sherwood's ace, who is just a sophomore, hit a career milestone Wednesday in just her second outing back from a collar bone injury, throwing a perfect game during a 15-0, four-inning rout of neighboring rival Deerfield. She struck out 10 of the 12 total batters she faced as SCA improved to 3-2 on the season.

"She's finally healthy and it's great to see her back in action and in good form," SCA coach Eddie Dixon said. "I heard the fans chirping about the perfect game after three innings, but I'm an old baseball guy and I don't like talking about it until that final out. Once we got it, I was so excited for her. The sky's the limit if she can stay healthy."

Kristina McNutt led the way from the plate, hitting a double and notching three RBI, while Payton Course, Jordyn Cox and Christina Charles all recorded RBI.
