ALBANY, Ga. — The parents of 25-year-old DeAndre Wlliams contributed $5,000 to Crime Stoppers Friday as a reward for tips leading to the arrest of their son’s killer.
Speaking at the Albany Police Department’s headquarters, Homicide Investigator Durrell Laster said that any and all information could help crack the case and tipsters would remain anonymous.
“Any information, even the smallest that you may not think is important can help us,” Laster said. “It can help us put the pieces of the puzzle together.”
A gunman killed Williams before 3:05 a.m. August 28 in the Sandtrap Club & Lounge’s 911 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. parking lot during an argument. Williams was hit twice by bullets then the killer escaped in Williams 2002 Burgundy Cadillac Escalade.
The Escalade was later found after police received a tip from an Albany resident. Tips can play a big part in bringing criminals to justice, said Jamie Knight, Crime stoppers treasurer.
“We are incredibly honored to work with the Williams family to bring this man to justice,” Knight said. “Our new call center allows for tips to go to law enforcement in real time 24 hours a day. We have been averaging three to five times as many tips as before.”
Anyone with additional information on William’s murder should call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or investigations at (229) 431-3288. The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.
Crime Stoppers is an anonymous tipline. People with information could become eligible for cash rewards.
