PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Ponder throws one-hitter to lead SGA; Randolph Southern, Lee County both win

DAMASCUS -- Bailey Ponder allowed just one hit in seven innings and Charity Lewis had a game-winning fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Southwest Georgia Academy softball team to a 1-0 win against Citizens Christian Academy on Tuesday.

It was CCA's first loss of the season, and the two teams are now tied atop the Region 3-AA standings with region records of 5-1.

SGA is now 12-2 overall, while CCA is 13-1.

Along with her one-hitter, Ponder had 10 strikeouts, no walks and improved her record to 9-2.

SGA scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh when Lewis hit a high bouncer to first base that scored Katie Carber.

SGA's only hits in the game were a Morgan Everson bunt single in the seventh and a Kyndal Carber double.

Lady Patriots beat Georgia Christian: Randolph Southern improved to 3-1 in Region 3-A play with a 13-5 win against Georgia Christian on Tuesday.

Alana McCook was the winning pitcher for the Lady Patriots, while Madison Ragan had 10 strikeouts in relief. The two pitchers combined for a no hitter.

At the plate for Randolph Souther, Ragan was 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple and four RBI; anbd Braylie Blanton was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Lee County tops Bainbridge, 10-2: Sophomore pitcher Erin Callaway allowed just one earned run to lead Lee County past Bainbridge, 10-2, in a high school softball game Tuesday.

Callaway, who is 10-7 on the mound, gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out three for the Lady Trojans (10-10).

At the plate for Lee County, Brandi Blount was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and Natalie Shiver was 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Lee County plays again Sept. 22 at home against Bainbridge.
