Pit bull bites man on face, hands
ALBANY, Ga. -- A pit bull jumped a fence and attacked a man walking on the 1900 block of Ridgemont Road Friday, according to an Albany Police Department report released Monday.
Ronald James was walking in the yard at 1915 Ridgemont Road when a black and brindle pit bull mix jumped the fence next door and ripped into James' face, leg, hand and body about 12:30 p.m., the report stated.
James was released from Palmyra Medical Center on Saturday, a hospital spokesman said.
The dog, named Trap, belonged to James' neighbor, Travis Harris, the police report said.
"Harris stated that he wanted to sign ownership of the dog over to me," said reporting officer David Jones. "He did not want a dog that would attack a person."
James was taken to Palmyra, and the dog was taken to the Albany Humane Society. Because Harris had no current rabies vaccination for the dog, it will be under observation for 10 days.
