ALBANY -- One day after falling seven spots to No. 13 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' Poll, the Albany State football team dropped out of the Top 10 of the D2Football.com Top 25 Poll on Tuesday.

The Rams are now No. 12 in the D2Football.com poll.

The Rams' heartbreaking 30-27 home setback to Valdosta State on Saturday was ASU's first regular-season loss since a Nov. 7, 2009 setback to Fort Valley State.

It also marks the first time since 2007 that Albany State hasn't started off the season 3-0. The Rams lost their second game of the season in '07 to Valdosta State, 41-3.

Valdosta State jumped from No. 12 to No. 5 in the AFCA poll and from No. 10 to No. 5 in the D2Football.com poll.

Albany State, which opens its SIAC schedule at 6 p.m. Saturday at Miles College in Fairfield, Ala., also fell one spot to No. 2 in the Heritage Sports Radio Network Division II Poll, which ranks the top Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the nation.

In other HBCU polls, Albany State is No. 4 in the Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College Football Poll and No. 6 in the Boxtorow HBCU Football Media Top 10 Poll.

SIAC NOMINATIONS: For the third week in a row, ASU quarterback Stanley Jennings was honored by the SIAC.

On Tuesday, Jennings and Rams linebacker Demonte Queen were named Honorable Mention Players of the Week for their performances against Valdosta State.

Jennings, who was the Player of the Week in the conference last week, completed 17 of 36 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's loss.

Queen, a junior from Capitol Heights, Md., led the defense with nine tackles and one stop for a loss.
