ALBANY — Albany has been declared a “Playful City USA” for a second year, and the Albany Recreation and Parks Department will celebrate that by hosting a day of fun 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Tift Park, located at corner of Fifth Ave. and North Monroe Street.
“Albany Family Play Day is an annual event that celebrates community health and wellness. It is an excellent opportunity for families, neighbors, and friends to come out to Tift Park and enjoy games, arts and crafts, and nature.” Suzanne F. Davis, director of the department, said.
Playful City USA is a national program that advocates for local policies that increase play opportunities for children. Albany was selected for its plan to work with the school district to implement joint-use agreements. This is designed to ensure that the community has access to additional playspaces and fitness facilities during non-school hours.
The event is free and open to the public, which is encouraged to bring a lunch and enjoy a day outside with craft activities, bouncy rides, relay races and other games with prizes.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
