ALBANY, Ga. -- The Albany Advocacy Resource Center will celebrate its 33rd annual Community Awards Banquet Oct. 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Albany.
This year's banquet will feature Mark Butler, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Labor, as the keynote speaker
Butler became Georgia's ninth labor commissioner in January.
A native of Carrollton, Butler had served the previous eight years in the Georgia General Assembly, representing House District 18, comprising Carroll and Haralson counties. During that time, he served as the chairman of the House Appropriations Human Resources Subcommittee, which oversees all operations of the budget for several of the largest state agencies, including the Departments of Labor, Human Services, and Behavioral Health.
The banquet will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, 101 S. Front St. The evening will start with a reception at 6 p.m. when guests will have the opportunity to meet Butler. Dinner begins at 7 p.m.
Albany ARC Executive Director Annette Bowling and Deputy Director Sandra Edge will present awards during the evening.
