PREP ROUNDUP: Deerfield's Davis wins Fish Camp Frolic; DWS, Randolph Southern get softball victories

ALBANY -- Deerfield's Mackenzie Davis won the Fish Camp Frolic cross country race title on Saturday with a winning time of 19:39. DWS' Camille Fox finished seventh with a time of 21:43. Southland's Tanzy Hogsed finished fourth in the girls meet.

Southland's Geoffrey McDonald finished third in the boys meet, and DWS' Marco Davis finished fifth in the meet, which included 18 teams.

DWS 11, Georgia Christian 9: Amber Young went 4-for-4, scored three times and drove in two runs to lead Deerfield. Emily Stone went 3-for-4, scored a pair of runs and drove in a pair of runs, and Sabrina Curry went 3-for-5 and scored twice. Chloe Jones went 2-for-3, and Amber Olsen picked up the win on the mound. DWS plays at Valwood at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Randolph Southern 18, Highland Academy 8: Brittany Holbrook, the team's only senior, hit a home run and a triple and drove in two runs to lead the way on Senior Day. Madison Ragan also homered and hit a triple and drove in three runs. Gabi Jackson had three hits and two RBI, and Braylie Blanton had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs. Madison Langford had a bases-clearing triple to end the game in the fifth. Alana McCook was the winning pitcher.

Randolph Southern (10-3 overall) plays Crisp Academy at 4:40 p.m. Thursday at Westwood to decide the region championship. Both are tied with 7-1 records.
