CUTHBERT -- Bobby Shyron Lovett, 77, of Cuthbert died Friday, September 30, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Edison, GA with Rev. David Crowdis and Rev. David McFather officiating.
Mr. Lovett was born August 24, 1934 in Cuthbert, son to the late Max D. and Jimmie Avera Lovett. He was a member of Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church and attended Damascus Baptist Church of Cuthbert. Mr. Lovett and his family operated Lovett Farms, which earned the Reserve Champion pen of steers in the '94 to '95 Beef Challenge for their steers' performance in the feed lot and for carcass quality. As a part of the Beef Challenge, steers were selected from Lovett Farms pens and went to win Reserve Champion Honors in a nationwide performance and carcass contest. At the Georgia Beef Expo, pens of Lovett Farms heifers have earned Champion and Reserve Champion titles and he was named Commercial Cattleman of the year in 1996.
Mr. Lovett served as president of the Canyon Cattleman's Association, he has been a member of the Georgia Cattleman's Association Cow/Calf and Stockers Counsel, he was served as treasurer, vice president, regional vice president, and a member of the executive Board of the Georgia Cattleman's Association, and has served on the steering committee of both the Georgia Beef Challenge and Georgia HERD program.
Mr. Lovett attended Clemson University and Georgia Tech, he had served in the Georgia National Guard. He was retired Board Member of the First State Bank of Randolph County, treasurer of the Board of Randolph Southern School and was in the Hall of Fame of Pachitla Cattleman's Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robin Heath Lovett.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Theresa Peavy Lovett; two sons, Bob (Lesley) Lovett and Scotty (Becky) Lovett; daughter, Leisa (David) Peavy all of Cuthbert, GA; grandchildren, Kelley P. (Brian) Presley, Graham Lovett, and Shay Lovett.
