WAYCROSS -- Mr. John Wesley Dorough, III, 64, of Waycross died Sunday afternoon at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Cordele, Georgia to the late John Wesley Dorough, Jr., and Caroline Bannon Dorough. Mr. Dorough had made Waycross his home for most of his adult life. He worked as a salesman for Waycross Auto Supply before opening his own business, Seminole Archery.
Mr. Dorough was very active throughout the community working with special education programs. He was extremely involved in the Satilla Miracle League which held a special place in his heart. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Monroe Dorough.
Mr. Dorough is survived by three daughters, Caroline Dorough Sanford and her
husband Matt of Waycross, Leigh Dorough Vinke and her husband Glen of
Melbourne, Florida, Emily Brooke Dorough of Waycross, his grandchildren, Madison, Connor, and Darrian Bennett, Isaac and Hannah Vinke. Siblings are Debbie Dorough Mowery and her husband Clint of Albany, three brothers, Gary Dorough and his wife Becky of Albany, Keith Dorough and his wife Rachel of Albany and Craig Dorough and his wife Gail of Cordele, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 4th at First United Methodist Church, with burial afterwards in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 3rd, from 5-7 p.m., at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, "Food Pantry", 410 Williams Street, Waycross, Georgia 31501.
