Dougherty County Police Department investigators search for spent shell casings at the back entrance
to Kitty’s Flea Market off Branch Road just north of Sylvester Road. Police reports stated there was
automatic gunfire at the site. The victims drove themselves to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
ALBANY — Two wounded men drove to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in a late model Ford Crown Victoria displaying multiple bullet holes at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday, stated a police report.
“Both men are in stable condition,” said Dougherty County Police Capt. Jimmy Sexton. “We have them and two persons of interest in custody. And we are interviewing them.”
The persons of interest drove up to the hospital in a blue and purple Honda Accord after the injured men arrived, Sexton said. Both cars were impounded for crime technicians to examine.
The men were wounded by automatic gunfire at the back entrance of Kitty’s Flea Market off Branch Road just north of Sylvester Road. Investigators slowly walked the dirt area and continued picking up bullet casings at least 90 minutes after hearing from the victims.
Police said there were more questions than answers Thursday night. Sexton said, “The case remains under investigation.”
