ALBANY — The Albany State baseball team romped past Benedict, 15-5, on Sunday to improve to 12-6 in the conference and 17-19 overall.
Ricky Harris went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in five runs, and Jacob Campbell went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs to lead the Rams.
John Nesbitt went the distance to get the win and improve to 8-4. He allowed only three earned runs on six hits and struck out seven while walking seven.
GSW spilts softball finale vs. Pembroke
AMERICUS — Georgia Southwestern’s softball team spilt with UNC Pembroke Sunday, winning the opener 4-0, and falling 3-2.
GSW ends the season at 22-30 (4-16 in the PBC).
Jessica Martin pitched five scoreless innings in the opener to earn her 28th win of her career. She gave up four hits and two walks while striking out three.
GSW scored on an error to take a 1-0 lead and Jessica Chewning had an RBI single n the fourth. Mason Moreland scored on a passed and drove in a run.
Moreland stole three bases in the second game and had five for the day. Gaby Buck drove in two runs, scoring Moreland twice in the loss.
