ALBANY ALBANY — A popular restaurant is preparing to jump from one side of the Albany Mall area to the other, where developers intend to add a drive-through and patio space, according to documents filed with the city of Albany.
The Albany City Commission will discuss today a proposal by local property owner Bob Brooks to change the use of a portion the former OfficeMax space on the perimeter of the Albany Mall and Westover Boulevard to allow for a 3,200-square-foot build-out for the relocation of Moe’s Southwest Grill.
Moe’s is currently on Dawson Road adjacent to Target.
Brooks states in documents that his intent is to allow the restaurant to relocate to his property where he’ll add a drive-through and a patio area.
The measure was recommended for approval by the Albany-Dougherty Planning Commission and now needs approval of the Albany City Commission before it can come to fruition.
The chain, which was founded in Atlanta in 2000, is known for its uniquely-named burritos such as the “Home Wrecker” and the “Joey Bag of Donuts.”
According to its website, Moe’s joined FOCUS Brands Inc. — a global franchisor of more than 3,300 Carvel Ice Cream, Cinnabon, Schlotzsky’s and Auntie Anne’s locations — in August 2007.
There are currently 420 Moe’s locations throughout the U.S. and overseas.

That would be great, having a drive through window.

I think that will be a great idea for Moe's. Where they are located now is more like an afterthought, especially with all the construction Target has been doing. Adding a drive-thru and patio will definitely get them more business.

Glad to see any business expand and grow. It will also allow for easier entrance and egress. Seems like a smart move on their part.
