SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Virginia Jackson Chavous, 75, of Sylvester died Wednesday April 18, 2012 at Sylvester Health Care.
The graveside will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday April 20, 2012 at the Isabella Cemetery with Rev. Jason Jones and Rev. Al Wilbourn officiating.
Mrs. Chavous was born on September 19, 1936 in Clay County Georgia to the late Lee Washington and Eltrym White Jackson. She had lived in Worth County since 1993 moving here from Atlanta. Mrs. Chavous was educated in the Early County School System and later attended Atlanta Business College, and also worked as a Para-legal. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Loyal order of the Moose and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where she held most offices. Mrs. Chavous was also a member of the Isabella Baptist Church and enjoyed flowers, reading, computers and loved her animals.
Survivors include her sisters, Brenda J. Powell of Sylvester; Diann J. Goodman of Atlanta; June J. Bailey of Arlington, TX; brothers, Lee Jackson, Jr., of Long Beach, MS; Kenneth Jackson of Royston, and Edward Jackson of Macon, a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great great niece and nephew.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Chavous was preceded in death by her husband Jack L. Chavous on December 20, 1999 and a sister, Janette Zukowski.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 PM until service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
