Arrest made in Westbrook slaying

SADE BRITT

SADE BRITT

ALBANY, Ga. — The long manicured fingernails, the eyes and the slight overbite led to the community identifying a woman in a full-head, black mask using an SB&T Bank ATM machine on Pine Avenue with a slain man’s card April 3.

Many tips led to the arrest of 26-year-old Sade Britt after surveillance pictures hit the media showing her driving murdered Anthony Westbrook’s Kia Rondo to the ATM, said Albany Police Department Detective Schemika Foster.

“Yesterday (Thursday) one of those tips gave us the major break we needed in the case. The information we received assisted in identifying and apprehending Britt,” Foster said. “She was taken into custody at approximately 10:30 last night in her East Albany home.”

Foster said Britt is believed to be connected to the death of 52-year-old Westbrook, but did not name her as the shooter. Westbrook’s body was found nude, face down on a mattress in the woods off Westtown Road April 4.

Britt is charged with theft by receiving, financial transaction card theft and fraud, said a Dougherty County jail spokeswoman. No bail was set and she remains in jail, Foster said.

According to the Dougherty County Court website, Britt has been in jail before. She was out on $8,000 bail stemming from “an assault upon the person of Ellen Lockett by pointing a ... black and gray colored handgun at her with intent to then and there assault or murder.”

In another case reported in 2008, she pulled a knife on someone. She was arrested in 2007 on possession of marijuana with intent to distribute charges.

“This arrest is only the beginning. This case remains very active,” Foster said. “Additional charges are pending and additional arrests are expected. So we still need the assistance of the community.”

Anyone with additional information should call investigations at (229) 431-3288 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477). The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.

So theoretically she gained nothing out of that murder.

VSU, do they ever gain anything out of a murder ?

Depends on who the murderer is and what they want to accomplish.....For example OJ Simpson murdered his ex wife and friend and got away scott free, so he still has his freedom.

Other people have murdered people and stole from them and never got caught, Now this woman just stole from this guy after he was murdered and a few days later she gets arrested, so basically as VSU said, what did she accomplish? She could have worked and made an honest living, yet she chose the wrong path, so she gained nothing by this murder,

To answer your question, I not sure what they expect to gain out of a murder. Obviously she thought she wouldn't get caught, wearing a mask to hide her idenity and would have that money. I am just saying whatever she thought she got out of the murder, she didn't have too long to benefit from whatever money she got out of it. So in this case, it was not to her advantage.

Don't you need a PIN number to get money out of an ATM? This is a quality citizen right here y'all.

I am thinking that as well needing a pin, but unless she was in some type of relationship with this guy and had his pin number, otherwise she wasn't smart enough to realize you needed a pin number. The story didn't indicate whether she got any money or not, just said she used the slained man's card at the ATM machine.

I don't think it was the nails that nailed this one down for the cops--there are too many with long 'uns. Must have been the overbite combined with the eyes of a frequent visitor to the nick--still innocent until proven guilty in a court of law of course. One question I always have when these folks are "nailed" is "Did they have a job and were they living in some form of subsidized housing"--a no and yes answer will help explain what happened.
