ATLANTA — Dougherty County’s Democratic Party chair and one of its state representatives will be members of the delegation representing the 2nd Congressional District at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., this fall.

The state Democratic Party announced Tuesday that Constance Burkes and state Rep. Winfred Dukes, both of Albany, have been chosen as district-level delegates to the convention. There are a total of five delegates for the congressional district.

“We are very pleased with the strong showing from Albany,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Chairman Mike Berlon. “The Democratic Party is alive and well in South Georgia.”

Burkes has been involved in Dougherty County politics as a local county chair, while Dukes has served as a state representative for a district that includes part of Dougherty County for 15 years.

The other three 2nd District delegates are Vivian Bishop of Columbus, wife of U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Albany, who represents the 2nd District in the House; state Rep. Lynmore James, D-Montezuma, and Kattie Kendrick of Fort Valley.

We'll erase that blue dot come November when "take the trash out" day arrives.

they are lucky to be in Charlotte in late July rather than August in Tampa; just shows which party has common sense.

Y'all be sure not to miss the Workshop on "How To Stuff Ballot Boxes" (http://www.speroforum.com/a/JHJAYHFXYL12/71410-Did-Democrats-hack-the-2008-Obama-election)

and don't forget to bring back a couple of suitcases full of Handicapped Parking Stickers that you can hand out to constituents in exchange for their Vote.

“The Democratic Party is alive and well in South Georgia.” For Real????

The democratic party is nothing more than a PR group for the NAACP.

Don't forget about Uncle Leroy's vote, rest his soul. Poor old Uncle Leroy has been dead over 25 years, but still manages to cast in his votes.

One time i saw the Dems, and the Rep. work together, and did pretty good at it,was the GSA hearings.I watched it all.And if they can get along on that matter, why cant they on others? All need to start worring where all the money is going.Just think of all that money that was spent by the GSA.It sure could help alot of hungry people right here in our country.Or it could have gone to help the Baby boomers that are comming around now,you know the ones, the ones they all would like to push over the cliff.

It's called "All In The Family." Same as Sanford kept all of the college money in his family.....That has faded from the news....
