TIFTON, Ga. — A 24-year-old woman walking along Goff Street near Tift Regional Medical Center was accosted by a knife-wielding man Monday evening, according to a Tifton Police Department report.
“A black male with a knife came out of a wooded area and took her a short distance into the woods,” the report added. “He made her get on the ground, but a car drove toward them and he fled from the area.”
Officers searched with tracking dogs from Turner County law enforcement, but the scent was lost, possibly because the suspect got into a vehicle.
There are no known suspects at this time and the Tifton Police Department is asking for anyone with information to call the Tifton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at (229)382-3132.
The police department also encourages residents to use a buddy system when walking or jogging, always take note of surroundings. Police said, when possible, avoid wooded or secluded areas and call if there is anything suspicious spotted.
