Smelvin the Clown performed magic tricks and jokes at the sixth annual Another Level Motorcycle Club Festival on Front Street just above Veterans Memorial Park Amphitheatre in Albany.
ALBANY, Ga. — After the Another Level Motorcycle Club raised money for the March of Dimes, it held a street festival on Front Street near the Albany Civic Center.
“I don’t know how much money we raised in the Poker Run,” said Shelby Daniels, the event’s organizer. “But this festival is to give the city an opportunity to come together in a positive way as a community.”
Daniels said that the Poker Run and the festival were ways to counter the negative publicity and feelings residents get about the city. It is an opportunity for people to bring their children out and catch a good feeling from having something to do downtown for children and adults.
“We started a barbecue contest this year,” Daniel’s said. “Next year we will make it bigger and better.”
Children and adults enjoyed the food, recorded music, face painting, balloon hats, bouncy houses and fun events such as Smelvin the Clown’s magic act until 2 p.m. Saturday.
The afternoon led to raffles for the 10-year-old and under group. The prizes were 15 new BMX-style bicycles. Grinning ear to ear, Anirudh Gattu looked as if he had won an Corvette.
Many organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany, Georgia Families, Right From the Start Medicaid Outreach and the Albany Police Department were there to support the day and pass out information.
