CORDELE — An arrest has been made in connection to a murder investigation into the death of a teenager in Cordele over the weekend.
On Monday, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation along with the Cordele Police Department charged Michael Marvin Davis Jr., 26, with one count of felony murder and one count of aggravated assault in the death of Andrew Ford, 16, authorities with the GBI confirmed.
About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, the GBI Region 3 Field Office in Americus was requested by the Cordele Police Department to assist with a stabbing investigation. Initial reports indicated that the incident unfolded at Rosewood Estates, where the victim reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds.
Upon arrival at the scene it was determined that Ford had been transported to Crisp Regional Hospital, where he later died from the injuries. Officials said Saturday afternoon that the teen died just before 4 a.m.
Davis was taken into custody at his residence at 185 Hanna Road in Cordele and was subsequently charged, officials say.
GBI agents, along with Cordele police and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Department, are conducting the investigation as a homicide. Ford’s body has been transported to the state crime lab for an autopsy, officials with the GBI said.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the GBI’s field office in Americus at (229) 931-2439.
