BLAKELY -- Frances Garrett Chandler, 84, passed away Tuesday , July 31, 2012 at the Early Memorial Nursing Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Blakely with burial to follow in the Blakely Cemetery. Rev. Rick Turner and Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating. Visitation is from 6-8 pm Thurdsday, August 2, at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Serving as pallbeares will be: Ryan Free, Chandler Lane, David Moore, Benjamin Chandler, Bill Cleveland and Fred Cleveland.
Mrs. Chandler was born in Blakely, Ga. September 6, 1927 to the late Fred Charles Garrett and Edna Mae Goodwin Garrett. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Retired from the Brew Apparel Co. of Blakely and Early County Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband: Fryeson Benjamin Chandler.
Mrs. Chandler is survived by 1 son: Benny Chandler and wife Lucy of Ft. Gaines, Ga; 3 Daughters: Mary Lee Chanlder Gordon and husband Mac of Ft. Gaines, Ga; Carol Chandler Free of Rock Spring, Ga. and Lynn Chandler Lane and husband Ed of Albany, Ga.1 Brother: Charles Garrett and wife Regina of Ft. Gaines, Ga. and by 1 sister; Mary G. Cleveland of Blakely. There are 8 grandchildren: Beth Chandler, Ryan Free, Maggie Free, Rachel Lane, Chandler Lane, David Moore, Lori McMinn and Lucy Henry; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Georgia ALS Research Foundation.
