ALBANY, Ga. — Spotting a Colquitt County Jail inmate on television got Dougherty County jailers’ attention.
According to a press release from the jail, Roderick Pride was reportedly arrested with his mother, Deborah Pride, in Doerun on July 28 for felony shoplifting.
One problem. Roderick Pride had been in the Dougherty County Jail since Aug. 23, 2009, the press release said. He is being held on charges including aggravated assault and other felonies, a jail spokeswoman said.
Jailers got on the phone and called Colquitt County personnel about the deception. They learned the man arrested was actually Antonio Pride, Roderick Pride’s brother.
Mother Deborah and son Antonio face felony charges after stealing more than $3,000 worth of flat-screen televisions, a Moultrie Police spokesman said. Antonio Pride will probably be charged with giving a false name, he added.
No word was available on how the mother and brother felt about Antonio Pride’s deception.
