DOTHAN, AL -- Jack W. Kale, Jr. died July 30th, 2012 at his residence in Dothan, AL following a 6 year struggle with cancer. He was 59 years old.

Jack was the son of the late Jack Kale, Sr. and Betty Kale. Born at Clark AFB in the Philippines, Jack's family settled in Albany where he became the valedictorian of his 1970 graduating class at Westover High School. He was a National Merit Scholar and Star Student for Dougherty County. He received his undergraduate degree in Physics from Georgia Tech and his Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering from University of Wisconsin, in Madison, IL. In 1978 he moved to Dothan, AL to raise his family and work at the Farley Nuclear plant, where he retired on February 1, 2012.

Jack's love of science was only surpassed by his love of God, his church, and his family. He gave his life to the scouting ministry of Dothan First United Methodist Church, where he was a faithful member and dedicated Sunday School teacher (17 years) and student. He served as the president of the South Eastern Alabama Rocketry Club and performed demonstrations around the southeast. He also served as a Gideon in sharing God's Word with the world in service and witness.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Kale Sr., and the mother of his children and his first wife, Kathryn Gunnels. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Knowles Kale, two children: Jack III (Sandra) and Kathryn Kale, three grandchildren: Gabriel, Emma, and Julia Kale, his mother, Betty Daniel Kale, and his brother, Danny Kale.

Funeral services will be held at the Dothan First United Methodist Church on Friday, August 3rd at 2:00 pm, with a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park to follow. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. in the parlor of the Dothan FUMC. Rev. Sterling Boyking, Rev. Lynn Nesbitt, and Father Thompson will officiate. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Dothan FUMC Youth Building Renovation Fund or to Gideon's International.
