ALBANY -- Imogene Franklin Vorse, departed for her heavenly home on Friday night, August 3, 2012, with family members gathered around her bed here on this earth, while the Heavenly host welcomed her home. While so very glad to be reunited with loved ones gone first, the first one in that receiving line was her Savior himself, Jesus, the one she served so faithfully while on this earth.

The funeral service will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Putney with Revs Tab Howell, Ralph Horne and Jim Lutrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Born May 5, 1923 to Willie Reamous and Lucy Pauline Marse Franklin, she was one of thirteen children. Being brought up on the family farm, she was taught work eithics and Christian values that served her all the days of her life.

She graduated from Poplar Springs High School in Graceville, FL in 1942. She then moved to Columbus, GA to go to work there. It was at the close of WWII that she met William R. (Bill) Vorse, they married June 1, 1945 and moved to Niagara Falls, New York. They returned south in late 1946, living in Dothan, AL until 1953, then moved to Albany. They were married fifty one years until his death in 1996.

Mrs. Vorse worked various jobs but her last employment was at her life's mission. She became a food service manager at Morningside Elementary School where she fed the children, touched their lives and gave them love. During all her years, she taught four and five year olds at First Baptist Church of Putney for thirty years and was a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class these latter years.

While her earthly legacy would not make headlines, it was accounted in Heaven as she touched souls, one at a time. Never ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she would ask you, " Do you know my Jesus?" This she did even in her last days. When you visited her she would tell you to make sure.
