ALBANY — Police responded to a gunshot at the Walmart on the 200 block of Cordele Road at about 5 p.m. Friday, an Albany Police Department report stated. A man discharged a 9 mm Springfield Armory handgun in the sporting goods department when he tried to show it to another customer. He was arrested and cited for discharging a firearm in the city limits, the report added. No injuries were reported, the name of the cited man was redacted and no further information was immediately available.
In another unrelated gunshot incident reported by police as aggravated battery, a man was shot in the left forearm at about 10 p.m. while on the 1700 block of Malone Avenue.
Albany police also responded to at least 57 incidents Friday into the early hours of Saturday, according to available reports. Police responded to incidents including:
— Indecent exposure, saggy pants, on the 1200 block of East First Avenue;
— Financial transaction card theft on the 2400 block of Sylvester Road;
— Drunken driving on the 2400 block of Clark Avenue;
— Entering autos on the 2500 block of North Slappey Boulevard, the 2300 block of Greenleaf Lane, the 2000 block of West Broad Avenue, the 200 block of McCray Drive and the 900 block of Cherry Avenue;
— Burglaries on the 1000 block of North Slappey Boulevard, the 2300 block of West Gordon Avenue and the 1600 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard;
— Thefts by taking on the 300 block of Slater King Drive and the 2600 block of Dawson Road;
— Recovered property on the 2700 block of Elton Street;
— Pedestrian in roadway on the 1400 block of Madison Street;
— Disorderly conduct on the 200 block of West Tift Avenue, the 2400 block of Dawson Road and the 500 block of Whitney Avenue;
— Terroristic threats and acts on the 500 block of South Cleveland Street;
— Robbery on the 2500 block of Crescent Drive;
— Battery (domestic) on the 1000 block of East Roosevelt Avenue;
— Kidnapping (domestic) on the 500 block of Eighth Avenue;
— Domestic complaints (unfounded) on the 400 block of Poplar Street, the 800 block of Colquitt Circle, the 100 block of Allen Avenue and the 2400 block of Brierwood Drive.
DOUGHERTY POLICE: Dougherty County Police responded to at least 38 calls Friday, according to reports. Police responded to incidents including:
— Burglaries on the 1100 block of Butternut Avenue and the 3200 block of Higgins Drive;
— Crime prevention/K-9 report on the 2700 block of Upland Court;
— Vehicle crashes on the 1400 block of the Liberty Expressway, the 2700 block of McCall Court and the 700 block of Wildwood Drive;
— Hospitalization on the 1000 block of Nelms Road;
— Fraud on the 3200 block of Pinyon Drive.
