BARTOW, Fla. — There are just three teams still alive in the winner’s bracket of the Dixie League World Series — and the boys from Lee County are one of them.
Lee County defeated Louisiana, 13-6, Sunday to move to 2-0 in the double-elimination tournament. Lee County plays again at 8 p.m. today against Florida, which also improved to 2-0 Sunday with a 14-0 victory against Tennessee.
Louisiana scored three runs in the top of the second to take a 3-1 lead, but Lee County scored 10 runs and belted four homers in the third inning to pull away.
Those with homers in the third were Aaron Greene, Garret Suiter, Fred West and Jarrett Kemp.
Greene went deep again in the fourth inning.
“This is the best we have been hitting,” Lee County coach Shawn Snedden said. “I told them (Sunday) night that we are saving it for the right time.”
