ALBANY, Ga. — The Albany Police Department is investigating what led to the death of a man found near a boat landing on Monday morning.
The body was found at 2301 Radium Springs Road at Radium Landing off of the Flint River, said Phyllis Banks, APD spokeswoman.
It is possible that the victim, a white male, took his own life, police said. Officials were awaiting confirmation on Monday afternoon as to the cause of death. It was not clear at that time whether there were signs of foul play.
Police said on Monday that victim is a 51-year-old man who was found just after 11 a.m. by two citizens who came to the dock to fish.
Identification of the victim was being confirmed after the body’s discovery, which was to be followed by the notification of next of kin, APD officials say.
When contacted for an update on the investigation at 5 p.m. on Monday, Banks said officials were waiting on family members to be properly notified.
Nothing further about the incident was immediately available.
