ALBANY — A break-in at a downtown Albany restaurant were among the weekend crimes the Albany Police Department responded to, reports show.

At 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to 105 W. Broad Ave., the site of Riverfront Bar-B-Q, to find the lock cut off the restaurant’s front cooler door and three cases of meat were missing, police officials say.

Also on Sunday, just a few minutes after midnight, police responded to an armed robbery of a Subway in East Albany, reports show.

Officials with the APD say that employees of the Subway at 2215 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. said that two men came into the business armed with handguns and wearing T-shirts as masks, demanding money from the cash drawer.

The employee complied and the two men fled the scene on foot, according to reports.

On Friday, police responded to a report of a shooting stemming from an incident on the 1700 block of Malone Drive.

The victim told police he had been shot in the arm when he was walking down the street after two men approached him and asked him a question. When the victim asked them to repeat the question, they reportedly shot him in the arm and fled.

He was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.

Those with any information about these incidents can call Albany Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477), or the APD at (229) 431-2100.

Theft is part of the cost of doing business in Albany. Ask building contractors why they have to carry away not only their tools, but excess building materials at the end of the day. The labor of loading and unloading adds to construction costs. And its time for another public statement about the safety and lack of crime in downtown Albany. Que the Mayor, City Manager, or Police Chief.

Why not just go and take what others have worked hard for and give it to the undeserving who are too lazy to work? The Government does it all day long.

You mean the cameras didn't stop the crime, oh no. I thought downtown was all safe now with the cameras. LOL
