ALBANY, Ga. — A 45-year-old man was arrested in his motel room at about 9 p.m. Monday and charged with the near midnight Sunday break-in at Riverfront Bar-B-Q, according to an Albany Police Department report.

While police captured Eugene Kennon Jr. at Royal Inn, 821 W. Highland Ave., and put him in Dougherty County Jail charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools, his partner remains on the loose, police said.

Jomokenyette Tipton, 36, remains wanted for the same burglary, police Lt. James Williams said.

“We would like to thank the public for assisting in this case,” Wilson said. “Several tips were received through Crime Stoppers regarding the burglary and the tips helped identify both individuals. We would like to encourage citizens to continue to call the tip line with information.”

Williams added that Crime Stoppers will be paying cash rewards for the information it has received and for new information that could lead to Tipton’s arrest.

The police encourage businesses to have up-to-date video and alarm systems. Tipton and Kennon were identified because the police had good video from the crime scene, Williams said.

“Even if their faces are covered,” Williams said, “sometimes people can tell who it is by their size, shape and mannerisms.”

In another restaurant break-in at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, two black men were seen leaving Ronnie’s Rib & Chicken Shack at 1301 Clark Ave. with a large white box.

Anyone with additional information should call investigations at (229) 431-3288 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477). The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.

Crime Stoppers is an anonymous tipline. People with information could become eligible for cash rewards.
