SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Frances DuPriest Park Alford, 97, of Sylvester died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
Mrs. Alford was born on February 22, 1915 in Shingler to the late John Jabez and Ada Victoria Patton DuPriest. She is a native Worth Countian and had lived here most of her life. Mrs. Alford has been very active in her community throughout her life. She was the first president of the Green Thumb Garden Club and has served in many offices throughout the organization. She was also a nationally accredited "Master Flower Show Judge." Mrs. Alford traveled to many places throughout the world including Europe and Asia. On a trip to Japan, Mrs. Alford took classes to increase her knowledge of oriental flower arranging. She was a long time member of the Sylvester Woman's Club and former board member on the Margaret Jones Public Library. Mrs. Alford was a homemaker and a life-long member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served in many capacities.
Survivors include her son John Mack Park (Deborah) of Sylvester; daughter-in-law, Faye W. Park of Sylvester; grandchildren, Deidre Park, Sam Park (Jenn) and Thomas Mack Park; great grandson, Aiden Park.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her husbands, Mack Park on May 19, 1964 and Captain Lodwick Alford December 19, 2007 and a son, Sammy D. Park on December 30, 1995.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
