Henry Allen Houston

FORT WALTON BEACH -- Henry Allen Houston 75, of Destin, FL went to be with the Lord Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Susie Houston of Hatchechubbee, AL. Allen is survived by his loving wife Alta of 35 years, and his daughter Jeri Houston Henderson and Husband Steve, son Jeff Houston and wife Debbie and Ann Houston, his two sisters, Janice Carver and husband Bill, Brenda Whitaker and husband George, , Tommy Braden and wife Michele, Rodney Braden and wife Jamie, Drummona Anderson and husband James, and Linda Braden, and Brother-In-Law Tommy Klosterman.

His Grandchildren: Michael Henderson and wife Bonnie, , Elizabeth Henderson, Grady Houston, Andy Houston, Terra Pruett and husband Josh, Riley and Kasidy Braden, and Emily and Drew Anderson.

His Great-Grandchildren: Kryssa, Brady, Colten, and Hank Henderson.

He graduated from Jordan High School in Columbus, GA in 1955. He was employed by Addressograph Multigraph for 30 years. He retired from Georgia Federal State Inspection Service after 24 years of service.

He enjoyed woodworking, deep-sea fishing, and gardening. He was known as "The Bird House Man" because he loved building bird houses and started the business, Bird Houses With A Degree. He loved people and being a peace maker.

He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany, GA. He moved to Destin in January of 2011 and from then on attended Destin United Methodist Church in Destin.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday August 11, 2012 at Destin Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive in Destin, FL. Service will be at 2 p.m. at the church, with burial to follow at Destin Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Destin United Methodist Church in Destin, FL.
