Tribunals set for two more teachers accused of cheating

ALBANY

Administrative tribunals will be held Friday morning for two more Dougherty County School System teachers named in the governor's CRCT cheating report.

Martin Luther King Elementary teacher Tara Mallard and Northside Elementary's Tiffany Randle will face disciplinary hearings beginning at 9 a.m. in the school system administration building.

The hearings, which will be held in the DCSS board room, are open to the public.

Sid Cottingham of Douglas is the hearing officer and the tribunal panel consists of former Georgia Professional Standards Education Ethics Director Gary Walker, Bibb County Board of Education member Wanda Walker and retired Wheeler County Elementary Principal Jack Willis.

Mallard and Randle are the fifth and sixth teachers to appear before the tribunal. Two weeks ago four DCSS teachers accused in the 2009 CRCT erasure investigation, agreed to 60-day suspensions without pay for their roles in the scandal.

After hearing the cases the tribunal will make recommendations to the Dougherty School Board, which will approve, amend or hand down a different decision on the teachers punishments.

LET'S SEE IF BUSH AND COMPANY WILL UPHOLD THE TRIBUNAL'S RECOMMENDATIONS.

PROBALY NOT.. THE DCSS LIKES TO WAIST MONEY. WHAT SINCE DID IT MAKE FOR THEM TO HIRE A GROUP OF PEOPLE CALLED THE TRIBUNAL AND PAY THEM $300.00 PER DAY..THEN SAY THANKS FOR THE RECOMMENDATION BUT WE WILL MAKE THE FINAL DECISION.. REALLY?!

ObjectiveEyes 2 years, 1 month ago

Why not do away with the drama and rehire them?

0

MRKIA 2 years, 1 month ago

WHY NOT CLOSE THE SCHOOLS? THE DIPLOMAS FROM THIS SCHOOL SYSTEM ARE RATED VERY LOW. HERE YOU CAN GRADUATE WITHOUT THE BASICS AND WILL NOT BE READY FOR COLLEGE OR MILITARY. LET THE STATE PAY FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLING.

My point exactly...its all drama!

Free advice to Tommy Coleman and anybody else wanting to understand the facts: Get a Math Teacher from Darton to come in and explain the statistics. Otherwise it's a Chinese Fire Drill it seems.

If nobody in the room understands the likelihood of 1 in 15 Billion chance.....then it truly is a waste of time and money.

You all are very pitiful and sad!

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

What is really "pitiful and sad" is teachers who are paid a hundred thousand dollars a year, cheat on tests, and then lie about it by denying it. THAT is pitiful and sad.

2

straightface 2 years, 1 month ago

price? wrong... they are paid 35,000 to 50,000... in dougherty county.. dont know where u r from

I was told that the Alabama colleges have already flagged DCSS as having an inferior education. A lot of other colleges may have followed suit.

1

lynn227 2 years, 1 month ago

That's scary! We all know how many people want to crawl over the line after an Alabama education. That would be about twice as many as hop in from Mississippi. Georgia will suffer now!

0

bubbasmithredneck 2 years, 1 month ago

your stats are wrong.......and your math is wrong.......PROVE IT!

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

The MATH cannot lie. It's solid proof. As the saying goes "Figures don't lie.....but LIARS FIGURE!" That seems to be in play here. Except nobody has enough brains to understand the MATH, least of all Tommy Coleman apparently. Get a MATH TEACHER from DARTON who can explain it. Else he's trying to understand Egyptian hieroglyphics.

0

straightface 2 years, 1 month ago

Sister Ruby you know nothing.. wish you could hear the tapes... then your whole way of thinking would change.. dont care nothing about statisitcs and math. lets talk FACTS!

0

RedEric 2 years, 1 month ago

Uuuuh, straight face, math and statistic ARE facts. Testimony, even if the person is telling the absolute truth AS THEY KNOW IT, is unreliable.

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

TAPES don't mean CRAP! What do the tapes say? "I didn't do nuthin'" ?? " That don't mean CRAP either! Statistics will tell you that it's a THOUSAND or even a MILLION times more likely that there was cheating than being struck by lightening! BUT who understands the math? Not YOU, not TOMMY COLEMAN, not the average CITIZEN! That's why they either need to bring in an expert or everybody go home. It looks like nobody really wants to get to the TRUTH which is what I expected in the first place. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1

lynn227 2 years, 1 month ago

That's sad on your part to say, "A person's words mean crap!" If the DCSS wanted to get at the truth, most in administration would be gone. The person(s) who oversaw the testing site would definitely be GONE! The tests booklets would be available for examinantion by public and those accused, alike. They paid for them and for them to be scanned. Why can't they have access to material they own? Whoever heard of a person not having the right to face his/her accuser? Whether it be human or the so-called "smoking gun"?Statistics are fine, but motive and OPPORTUNITY are everything. The majority of the tests we are speaking of here, they were booklets not answer sheets. Someone would have needed the time to sit and erase answers at his/her leisure. This would have needed to be done for 19+ students in many instances, multiplied by 4 classes. This could not be accomplished with a five minute there and five minute back return of test. Any fisherman will tell you, the trouble with nets? Many times you catch and harm fish you're not out to get.

0

tywebb 2 years, 1 month ago

ummmmm, NO! the teachers aren't going to change answers on students tests whom they know will pass! This ain't fishin'! we're talking about teachers and administrators who have admitted there was cheating. we're talking about the children and how this hurts them. The teachers and principals were ONLY worried about the number that came back on the test results........NOT whether the students actually learned anything! And isn't DoCo the place where there were "cheating parties"? maybe that was atl. Any who, it doesn't matter. All guilty parties should be stripped of their certificates!

0

straightface 2 years, 1 month ago

and you keep stressing Darton College..so are they suppose to be better than everyone else casuse none of the crookiness had not hit the fan yet or is it because they are white owned school and that makes them better.

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

If there's an honest Math Teacher at ASU then that would be fine too. Just somebody with Honesty and Brains. Should be a simple thing.

0

TheBoss 2 years, 1 month ago

straightface is so stupid he dosen't know that Darton and ASU are owned by the same people....the Taxpayers of Georgia.

I seem to remember a former Superintendant stating that the composition of the School employees should reflect the composition of the student body if we hope to reach those students. Whatever happened to the abilities, Moral attitudes and an overall desire to excell? These joke trials and tribunals surely send the wrong message to all students. The joke of tenure should have stopped years ago, for it is used to protect the incompetant and criminal elements.

0

straightface 2 years, 1 month ago

joke trials i agree cause they are a waist of time.. send wrong message to students thats where i disagree...its teaching them you are innocent until proven guilty.. im sure if someone lied on them and caused them pain they would want to be heard.. at least there side of the story..not what someone else said they said or did.. so they are learning a good lesson that it is some people out there that might actually hear me out.

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

You and your cousins cj42 and b_r are really the most stupid and annoying people in this town. Why doesn't fire come down from Heaven and consume you? Or you get run over by a bus just from plain old stupidity? God's ways are mysterious. It's just part of the trial that all the rest of us must bear to have you hanging around acting a fool all the time.

0

DIVA1976 2 years, 1 month ago

First of all the problem is not the teachers!!! They can teach your children at school but what are you as parents doing at home. Most of the parents I see do not make their kids bring books home nor read after school. The reason some of these teachers are in trouble is because your children are stupid as all out doors. The teachers are doing what they do but if the parents are not helping then what do you expect. The school board can not make your kids do at school if you are not, so stop putting people down and raised your children!!!!!!

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

What do I expect? I expect that there will be NO CHEATING for any reason by any person that is paid by my taxes. NO CHEATING for any reason, no excuses, no justification. If the students learn it.....then the learn it. Otherwise, sit their butts in the same class until they get it or they drop out. NO CHEATING, NO EXCUSES.

0

lynn227 2 years, 1 month ago

The state doesn't allow students to sit in the same class until they get it. You're thinking of a time before we became politically correct. I, on the other hand, I could care less if the person is a 33 year old man in the third grade. If you don't know it, there should be somewhere we can put you until your sorry behind latches on to it.

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

The analysis of Randle's classes showed that the probability of cheating was "6 standard deviations". This was one of the smaller numbers in the group of those whom the analysis found proability of cheating.

"6 standard deviations" means that the probability of cheating was 99.99966%. Got that? Get an honest Math teacher to help and you will get to the TRUTH. Otherwise go jump in the Flint River.

Some of the results were "15 Standard Deviations". Go get a Math book and learn something.

0

lynn227 2 years, 1 month ago

It doesn't mean Randle did it! That's the part that goes over your head. Even if it was a deviation of 15, it doesn't mean the teacher did it. You have blinders on when it comes to administrators and those who truly gained from testing numbers. It's astounding that people can't envision a number of scenerios when it comes this fiasco.

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

A standard deviation of 15? That's a probability of 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999992% that it did NOT happen by accident. Meaning? That it happened on purpose. Meaning that somebody did it. So who did it lynn227?

Also, these teachers, through their talking heads aka "lawyers" have admitted that "testing anomalies did in fact occur" which is like saying something and nothing at the same time but they did at least admit that somebody did something.

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 1 month ago

I don't care who they get to help them understand the Math or what school they are from or anything else except get some expert and unbiased knowledge. As long as their first question isn't "What race are the acused?" then maybe the Tribunal and Coleman can get to the "correct answer". After all, this whole thing is about "correct answers". Do we believe there is no such thing these days as a "correct answer"? or does our definition of "Tolerance" mean that there is no such thing as a "correct answer"? Maybe that's our problem. And it's a big problem.

Maybe I need to teach in DCSS if teachers are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars as Sister ruby says!

Salaries good enough to expect a heck of a lot more I would think. Not bad for 9 months work. Put it on an annualized basis and its a pretty nice salary for the Good Life, don't you think Ruby?.

0

TRUTH101 2 years, 1 month ago

SMH..... I dont see any teachers on this list.....Poole and Chatmon are coaches........

0

whattheheck 2 years, 1 month ago

Yeah, coaches but they are listed as teachers on the state records. I wonder if the state pays for coaches, you don't see "coach" as a title in state records.

FY2011, Randle $68,816, Mallard $39,781 not counting county supplement.

A lot of folks in this area would like this kind of money with this kind of fringes--and 3 months off in the summer. Retirement is pretty good too.

0

TRUTH101 2 years, 1 month ago

Either way his statement was proven false. I have yet to see a TEACHER who makes 6 figures.....

It is waste of time, not waist... you are complaining about the inferior education the DCSS students are receiving. I wonder where you went to school? Isn't there a saying about stones and glass houses?

1

I'm shocked the "teachers" were smart enough to know the correct answers without a copy of the test.
