ALBANY — Albany Technical College has announced the recent appointment of Drenda Davis-Jackson as its new director of admissions.

Since 2009, Davis-Jackson has served as retention and STARS (Students Tracking and Retention Services) counselor at Albany Tech.

In this role, she was responsible for the coordination and implementation for the Grades First student alert, tracking, advisement, and success software available to all faculty and staff, as well as the “test prep” initiative, which is a collaboration between the College’s Academic Achievement Center and Admissions to prepare individuals for the college placement test.

“Mrs. Davis-Jackson developed good rapport with students, especially those transitioning from learning support to college level,” said Lisandra DeJesus, vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Albany Tech.

“Among her many talents, she possesses recruitment/event planning and coordination, community partnership-building experiences, as well as a diverse set of skills that allow her to work well independently and with teams.”

As the new admissions director, Davis-Jackson will provide leadership to the 14-member Admissions team to help the College achieve its strategic goals, as well as objectives of the Student Affairs Division, Tech officials said.

Before coming to Albany Tech, Davis-Jackson served as career center manager for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers and as family service worker at CDI Head Start in Albany.

She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Albany State University and a dual master’s degree in education and management from Troy University.
