BP on Dawson Road robbed

This BP Station on Dawson Road was robbed by masked gunmen around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, officials say.

Albany, Ga. - An Albany gas station and convenience store was robbed by two gunmen early Wednesday morning, making off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Albany Police Spokesperson Phyllis Banks says that two men armed with handguns walked into the BP station at 2340 Dawson Road just after 4:30 a.m. demanding money.

Store clerks complied with the men, who then fled the scene. The store was briefly closed but as of 8 a.m., was reopened to the public.

Anyone with any information on the robbery is asked to call Albany Crimestoppers at 229-436-TIPS.

I sure hope there were security cameras. Too bad there are no gun towers that can be controlled by the store owners that would take these low-lifes down as they leave the establishment. Clean up on Aisle 5!

I believe this store does have them. Now it depends on APD to release the video in a timely manner and not wait 2 months later.

How many cops are on the streets at 4:30am? And that's about 1000 feet from an APD Precinct!

I am hoping one day that some store clerk will have their gun and shoot these robbers down. It's the only way to keep these thugs from committing anymore robberies. I'll bet these robbers already have a long jail record as the judge keeps putting them back out on the street.
