The smashed hulk of a white Chevrolet pickup truck waits to be hauled away by a wrecker on Slappey Boulevard at Whispering Pines Road before 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was extricated from the wreck by Albany Fire Department emergency personnel.
ALBANY, Ga. — Amy Collier, 20, drove her 2000 Ford Expedition north on Slappey Boulevard into a 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup as she made a left turn onto Whispering Pines, according to an Albany Police Department report.
The report said Collier turned left after the green left arrow allowing left turns had expired at about 3:51 p.m. Tuesday. Collier’s Expedition plowed into the S10 pickup, driven by Natoria Smith, that was headed south on Slappey Boulevard with a green light.
Smith, 24, and an unnamed passenger were taken to the hospital for observation, the report stated. No information on their conditions was immediately available. Collier was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn, the report said.
