Sippin’ for Seals those disabilities

ALBANY, Ga. — Easter Seals Southern Georgia will host its annual Sippin’ for the Seals at the Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.

According to Easter Seals Director Beth English, the evening will feature fine wines, hors d’oeuvres and music by Cuthbert country music artist Cole Taylor. Taylor was nominated for Georgia Country Music Male Artist of the Year in 2012. In addition, a silent auction featuring some 25 to 30 items, including restaurant gift certificates and painted glassware by artist Cathy Jones, will be held.

“(Jones) paints a number of glass items including wine glasses,” English said. “Her work was very popular at last year’s event.”

Proceeds from Sippin’ for the Seals will benefit Easter Seals’ day programs for adults with disabilities, supporting activities such as field trips. According to English, last year’s event raised $5,000. Tickets for Sippin’ for the Seals are $25 and will be available at the door.
